How to use a dildo to enjoy alone or to interact with a partner

Anyone can play with a dildo!

There is a misconception that dildos are only used by cisgender lesbians. Not at all.
"Sex toys can be worn, received, and enjoyed by people of all genders and sexual orientations," says sex educator Sarah Sloane, who has coached sex toy classes since 2001 in the "Good Vibration" and "Entertainment Boobs" classes .
"Using certain sex toys or engaging in certain sexual acts will not change your sexual orientation or gender identity."

What is the point of a dildo?

There may be a billion different types of dildos on the market, and there are many reasons why one might want to buy and use one.
To name a few:
Confirm gender identity or sexual orientation, or experience gender pleasure
Enables penetration that would otherwise not be possible
Is due to partner's genitalia, erectile dysfunction, relationship status, or partner's availability
alone or with a partner
Exploring double penetration to enlarge the size of an existing penis

if you want it to be realistic

"For some people, the penis is an incredible erotic symbol," Sloan said. "There are other people who are wearing or being penetrated by realistic dildos who are very sure of their gender identity or sexual orientation."
But, she said, "Many people don't want to be penetrated by or wear something that looks like a penis."
Do you know? There are even dildos shaped like swords, tentacles or sticks?
Worth mentioning: most realistic dildos have distinct heads.
This can increase the chances of hitting the G-spot during vaginal intercourse, but if you plan to use it for beginner anal play, you may want to consider something smaller.

Start small, especially if you plan to use it anal.

"Asses are nature's magnifying glass," says Sloan. "No matter how small it looks online, in your hand or on a store shelf, it will feel bigger."
If you're new to anal penetration, she recommends starting with nothing else about an inch or so at its thickest penetration point.
The same is true for those who are new to the vagina. Otherwise, if you already know you like a girdle, you can start with a wider angle.
